Hull New Theatre - Completed in 1834, this Neoclassical building was originally named the Public Rooms. The original building for the General Infirmary opened in 1784 with additions built over subsequent years. The foundation stone of this imposing building was laid on 28th June 1830 by John Broadley Esq. and Designed by Charles Mountain. The property housed a dining room, ladies room, lecture room, committee room, and a museum. The people of Hull eagerly awaited the "Rooms" for meetings and to accommodate concerts, lectures and exhibitions.

 The Hull New Theatre is now a Grade II listed building. Opening in 1939 the theatre closed in 2016 in preparation for the UK City of Culture 2017. Hull City Council are spending £11.7 million and reopening will not take place until summer 2017.

Sightings - A man has been seen with dark straggly hair wearing a grey long coat. He has been seen several times, and is often heard walking around the theatre.
The most notorious spirit is ‘Charlie’, who apparently knocks on doors and messes up the dressing rooms. A ghostly woman has also been spotted in the dress circle,
